Angela Benson's Sins of the Father Blog Tour

Angela Benson's Sins of the Father Blog Tour

Angela Benson's numerous novels include the Christy-Award-nominated Awakening Mercy, the Essence-bestselling The Amen Sisters, and Up Pops the Devil. Currently an associate professor at The University of Alabama, she lives in Northport, AL.

Angela's Good Words from the Good Word!
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. -- Romans 8:28, New Living Translation.
This verse from Paul's letter to the church at Rome has always been one of my favorites. It's an all-purpose verse that I can bring to remembrance when I'm in need of comfort and encouragement. It's also a verse that I often share with others when they need encouragement.
I see this verse at work in the life of Abraham Martin, one of the main characters in Sins of the Father. Abraham made wrong choices in his life that negatively affected him and those he loved. And though he tried to make things right, he was unable to set them back the way they were supposed to be.

The essence of Romans 8:28 is that even though we can't always make our wrongs right, if we trust God, He can use our wrongs to bring about good things in us. In Abraham's case, God taught him that the money he valued so much meant very little compared to the love and life of his family.

Abraham is not alone in making a mess of his life and the lives of those he loves. Many of us are in that situation now. Like Abraham, we have to try and make amends. And like Abraham, we have to accept that our efforts might not yield the results we want. Our comfort is in the knowledge that God will use our mess to teach us a lesson that will make our lives richer and our futures brighter.

Prayer: Father God, I've strayed from the path you planned for me and I want to get back on track. Give me the courage to make amends and the strength to accept the consequences of my actions. I thank you that even though I went wrong, the legacy of my wrongs will be a renewed experience of you, your love, and your forgiveness.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Successful media mogul Abraham Martin has great wealth, an elegant wife, Saralyn, and a rebellious son, Isaac. He also has a secret: a second family that no one knows about. Now, after thirty years -- driven by the urging of his long dormant conscience -- Abraham is determined to do the right thing by finally bringing his illegitimate children into light...and into the family fold. But beautiful, manipulative Saralyn will never accept the proof of her husband's indiscretions.
Isaac the heir, shaken by his father's revelations, will fight mercilessly when his world is threatened, and may lose everything that matters as a result. And while Abraham's forgotten daughter, Deborah, is open to the undreamed-of possibilities suddenly awaiting her son Michael, cannot forgive the man who cruelly abandoned them to near poverty. And he's driven by one desire: revenge!

Angela Benson's Sins of the Father is a powerful story of a house bitterly divided -- a rich, multi layered family saga of betrayal and redemption, rage and compassion, faith, forgiveness, and ultimately, love.

Selena Winston Interviews Me.

The Columbia Christian Living Examiner welcomes this week's

Spiritual Spotlight: Vanessa Richardson

This very accomplished writer is 'on the move' and
a kingdom builder as you will see as you read on.

CCLE: Tell us about you, personally and as an artist.
VR: I am an author and Playwright. My first novel inspirational nonfiction titled: The Certain Ones: You’re not Forsaken. You’re Chosen for Purpose was released in 2009. And has been received wonderfully! I write and perform stage productions annually. I am ecstatic to announce our up and coming production: God Knows My Heart. It is slated to be performed around the Christmas Holiday.

CCLE: What is your motivation/inspiration?
VR: With out a doubt my inspiration comes from above. God. I have condition myself to have meditation and daily devotionals. This is my time with God, where I read my Bible and really listen to his divine directions for me. Through Him I am motivated to help women who dealing with low self-esteem and rejections. I am inspired to live the best life God intended for me to have.

CCLE: What is the best thing about being an artist in your field?
VR: The divine connections! I have met some great literary friends and some faithful readers. Thanks for the emails everyone! With my stage productions I have been blessed to have worked some spectacular actors and actresses.

CCLE: What character in the Bible has influenced you the most? Tell us why?
VR: At present I would have to profess Hannah. I consider Hannah to be a trailblazer--- her path was blazed with a crazy praise. It is our decisions we make in life that determines our outcome. Hannah had a physical handicap something she had no control over. She was provoked sorely for it. There are some things that happens that we have no control over . Know this: It is alright to cry. It is alright to confess to being hurt and confused. Alas, it is not alright to bow down to defeat. It is not alright to give up when you’re feeling the heat. Do a Hannah movement and rise up. Give out, but never give up. Let all the Hannah’s of the world rise up and proclaim their destinies!

CCLE: What is your background and how do you gain from its impact?
VR: I hail from a background of strong women! Everyone needs a foundation that is solid as a rock. Our foundation is faith and family. I am not successful with out my faith and my family. Money and material things are fleeting and can not provide you with the support that you need in this world.

CCLE: "WWJD" is a popular slogan- how does it play a part in YOUR life?
VR: I have heard this slogan many, many times and honestly never considered it. I strive to be Christ minded on a daily basis. There are several requirements to following Him. The key one is to let His will be done. It is hard to kick against the grain…after doing so so many times and coming away scarred. I yielded to Him and still doing so. Obedience is better than sacrifice. When I am in the perfect will of God and not his permissive will, I am closer to Jesus and am happiest in my life.

CCLE: What are your upcoming projects or events!?
VR: I am working on my next novel Christian fiction suspense entitled “Love Found Me”. It should be released later this year. My stage production "God Knows My Heart" slated to be performed around the 2009 Christmas Holiday.

Inspirational Author Adrienna Turner

Adrienna Turner writes inspirational non-fiction and fiction books. Under pseudonym names, she writes also science-fiction, fantasy, Young Adult (YA) inspirational drama, suspense thrillers, and new genre created by author called romance draspensedy (drama, suspense, and comedy). Her latest works are "The Day Begins with Christ," "Half of the Battle is to Surrender all I Have," and "From the Depths of my Soul: Collection of Poetry and Songs." Adrienna other titles for upcoming spiritual books: Unleashing the Spirit; Counsel Me Lord to be a Vessel for Christ; Miss the Mark Series (inspirational drama-suspense); and Desire at Will: Giving all the Glory to God through Prayer, Praise, and Worship -- Let it Overflow!

Richardson: Hello Adrienna! Thank you for talking with me. Please share yourself with our readers.

Turner: Thank you for this opportunity to share my books with you and your audience.

Richardson: It is my pleasure. The Write Vision has selected you as their featured author. Day Begins with Christ was a vision you had to write. Give us a synopsis as to what it is about it. And what has your journey been like bring it to life?

Turner: The Day Begins with Christ is an inspirational non-fiction book. It focuses on Christian men and women who want to walk with Jesus Christ. What makes my book more unique than the typical inspirational book is the journey that it takes you on to become one with Christ. It is a 50 day to day journey that helps strengthen the Christian faith.

Additionally, the main purpose of writing my book is to build godly character by taking a journey on their godly path with the true intentions to dedicate their lives to God, while it also encourages them to become a better man or woman.

The journey to bring this book to life had taken roughly a year to write, research, and edit. After first print, I wanted to make changes to the book and paid another editor to assist with the reconstruction process that took 2 months. I am undergoing other revisions for last reprint of the book. I am trying to find the market for this book and following audience.

Richardson: Where ever I go when asked for advice I tell aspiring people, (not just literary hopefuls) to develop a thick skin. I say this to encourage and not discourage aspiring authors. Adrienna, what advice do have for aspiring authors?

Turner: We have to be open to networking with other authors, literary agents/publicists, and readers. As authors, we are not to only focus on becoming the next best-seller, but to have readers who are following and admiring our work. We are also to research the literary market and other resources that can benefit us as authors.

I constantly research the market and speak about it on my blogs or blogtalkradio show. You can find me at www.adriennaturner.webs.com and www.dreams4more.com, www.blogtalkradio.com/adrienna-turner.

More importantly, God created you to write and gives you a story to write, do it! Trust God and He will provide what you need to do it. If He called you to write, do not doubt, trust that He choose you since He sees the Gift in you. He sees the 'end' and you are afraid to 'begin'. It is not always about your degrees and credentials, even though they are resourceful for the haters/criticism, but believe in you and your work...and the rest will come to pass.

Richardson: How do/did you deal with rejections?

Turner: I learn from them. I re-evaluate the rejection and find new ways or resolutions to improve my craft, artistry, and myself as a person. We are branding You and second your gift or talents. As believers, we are representing Christ, there is always room for improvement. Understand that things will not always happen the way you anticipate or expect, but there is a reason for everything and to pick up the pieces and learn from it. How can I make it better? What can I change? What did I learn from it?

Richardson: Do you have any forthcoming projects readers should be made aware of? I know also your a reviewer and you've started your own business.

Turner: Forthcoming projects are listed on my website: adriennaturner.webs.com. I am looking forward to writing a YA version of Day Begins with Christ that God laid on my heart after the previous release. Unleashing the Spirit Volume 1 and 2 will be out the end of 2009 or 2010, accepting pre-orders now! Miss the Mark Series (5-7), inspirational suspense-drama fiction and The Guardian Watch, supernatural fiction. I am also writing under pseudonym names for other fictional writing projects.

Stage play: Are you Ready? www.areyoureadyplay.com as one of the 6 characters in the play.

Business: Dream 4 More Literary Consulting Firm (www.dreams4more.com) (new and aspiring authors to learn more about the literary market and other services) and working on a future Publishing company: Dream Your Reality Publications. I am also looking at partnering or working for a publishing company that will be coming out soon--Heavenly Publishing and write articles for Heavenly Magazine (www.heavenlymag.com).

Three divine connections are contemplating on creating a virtual bookstore called Divine (Devine) Connectionz (or Connections). We will see what God has in store for me and those divine connections I met along the way.

Richardson: Adrienna, thank you for taking the time out to chat with me and sharing your goals and aspiration with us here on The Certain Ones Blog. Please continue to inspire as you aspire!
